Recurrence
Inspired by the geometric and minimal shapes of brutalist architecture, “Recurrence” is a sculpture composed by a Carrara marble cuboid and a clear concave glass lens. The brutalist concept was re-interpreted with different materials beyond the typical concrete character. The volumetric glass fused with a concave cut into the Carrara marble enables a more complex relationship between the shapes and materials. Through the changing light circumstances that surround the object, natural reflections produced by the glass can be rediscovered in the patterns of the marble.
